1928 Very Rare Art Deco "White Gold & Sapphire" BULOVA Ladies Vintage Watch
PLEASE ALLOW TIME FOR LARGE PHOTOS TO LOAD
Here is a stunning watch from Bulova dating way back to 1928. It is in super condition and is still keeping time on its original movement. It comes complete with its original and rare band with a filigree pierced design, sapphire blue stones and hidden clasp. The watch also comes in its original box. You are unlikely to see another like this - it is in perfect condition.
The Bulova signed hinged art deco/ tonneau case is very ornate and has a beautiful sweeping shape to it. It has intricate art deco and flower engravings covering the top of the bezel and down the sides. Just take a look at the close ups to see just how beautiful this piece is. Now take a look at the striking deep sapphire blue large triangular stones on each end - they just look wonderful. I have no way of testing if these are real but they sure look good. The back of the case is slightly curved and smooth. It is fully signed on the inside "Bulova 14k gold filled" with a case design patent date of "June 10th 1924". It is in perfect condition . The watch measures approx 27mm x 15mm.
The dial is also in perfect condition. It is a light silvery white with a full set of black art deco numbers and an inner black minute chapter, inside of which is more deco engraving. The Bulova signature sits in the centre. The blued steel hands are also original. The Glass crystal is also perfect.
The watch is running on the original Bulova 5ap 15j mechanical movement which is stamped so we can date it to 1928. The watch is still fully functional and keeping excellent time.
As stated above the watch comes with its original and very rare filigree band which is expandable and even the under links are pierced in the same beautiful design. This also holds two baguette cut deep sapphire blue stones. It has a fancy hidden clasp. It will fit wrists of 6"- 8" and is in top condition.
You also get this beauty in the original art deco box which has a green velvet covering. Inside the lid is lined with an ivory coloured satin with the Bulova wording and symbols etc. The bottom has a black velvet watch cushion with the Bulova name and if this is lifted out, on the bottom in the original Bulova watch guarantee.
This is certainly one of a very few left in the world today and the only one of its kind I have seen in the past 10 years. It is sure to make anyone happy. It is not only a collectors item but also something very special to put on your wrist and show off. It is museum condition - that perfect!
Many thanks for taking the time to view and read about this watch and good luck with your future bids.
The Bulova Watch Company
The Bulova Corporation was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, at a small premise in Maiden Lane, New York City. As time passed Bulova set up its own Swiss watch manufacturing plant and shipped the high grade movements to The United States to be fitted in their quality cases. In 1920, Bulova moved to 580 Fifth Avenue, New York where it engaged in the ambitious project of building the first observatory to ever be constructed on the top of a skyscraper. By the 1930s the Art Deco era hit USA and Bulova along with Hamilton, Elgin and Gruen watch companies made some of the most stunning watches to date right up into the 1950's, and this watch is one of them. A really unique and rare watch
