Very good to excellent condition hickory wooden shafted iron by Tom Stewart of St. Andrews. This smooth face forging is an early mashie niblick and bears Stewarts ‘Pipe’ cleekmark. Club dates circa 1905. Great deep hand nicking at the hosel join. Absolutely no rust or pitting. Has one small nick one the face and another on the leading edge close to the toe. These nicks are flush with the face and would not affect play. Stamped for ‘T. Trapp, Colchester, Essex.’ Nice mottled light gray/brown patina. No hosel pin is detectable. Wooden shaft is without chips or cracks and is almost certainly an original. Hosel join is flush and tight and shaft has just a very slight bend. Golf club is 36 ½ inches in total length. Nice old 11 inch sheepskin grip over underlisting is intact with whippings. Grip is fraying at some of the turns. Please see my other wood shafted and vintage collectable golf clubs. Some are quite rare. Also listing collectable Ping putters on a regular basis. All without reserve. THANKS!
