Swaged wire works as a spring that enables the tri-cam to lock in its position and to be placed securely single-handedly in various situations. Tri-cams are significantly lighter then regular spring-loaded devices (friends) and often work extremely well even in shallow cracks, pockets and over the edge placements. Swaged wire loops are color coded for easy identification and sizing. The groove in the head protects the wire from being in touch with the rock when placed. Made of extra durable aluminum alloy AlMgSi1. Wired tri-cams by ViaMont are CE certified (CE 1015). VG Product UseWired tri-cams are extremely suitable for both traditional climbing and mountaineering. They can be used in cracks, over-the-edge spots, pockets and any other appropriate spots where you can place a tri-cam securely. We have tested them across the United States from Zion and Devil’s Tower to T-Wall, Gunks, Red and Lynnville Gorge and found them particularly friendly in exposed situations when quick, one-hand placing is important. They can easily be placed during long reaches.Remember, climbing is a dangerous activity and proper training is essential before using any kind of climbing gear. If you doubt your ability to use it, don't use it under any circumstances. Traditional climbing gear must be placed into a compact rock. If you are not sure of the quality of the rock, find better gear placement. When placing, don't push the gear too deep into the crack; placing it too deep may result in a very difficult retrieval. Once placed, test the placement by (1) pulling on the wire in the direction of a potential fall, and (2) moving the cable in the direction of your climb.
