The Sage SP was one of the finest casting and fishing fly rods Sage ever produced.  Medium-fast action with a seductively soft tip that allowed saltwater guys like me to set on those big browns without snapping the 5x.  A joy to cast and a pleasure to fish.  Maybe I'm old school but I still prefer a two piece rod.  The world moved on to the fast modulus stuff but a lot of guys still liked the balance of the SP.  The only thing better than an SP is one custom-made by Bob Widgren.  If you haven't heard of Bob, he's the finest rod builder in the world.  Working out of the Los Pinos Fly Shop in Albuquerque he markets his custom business on his website, www.flyrodcrafters.com.  He's produced somewhere over 5,000 custom rods and his reputation is enough that FlyFisherman Magazine had him produce the section on their website on building flyrods, http://www.flyfisherman.com/rodbuilding/.Bob is a certifiable genius when it comes to building rods and a true artist.  His rods are as beautiful as they are functional.  I ran into Bob some 20 years ago and now have only one rod that he didn't build.  I don't specify anything on a rod outside of telling him to "trick it out" and just let Bob pick out everything.  I've never regretted it.This SP is a 9', two piece rod.  The pictures don't do it justice but the custom features include:Stabilized striated exotic hardwood reel seat (sorry, I can't remember the species but it's a very cool looking piece of wood)  with bronzed German Nickel Silver uplocking hardwareBurled cork cigar gripBlackened titanium guidesIridescent green wrapsCustom Los Pinos rod tubeSo why am I selling it?  Does anyone need more than seven 4 weights?  I really don't need to sell it and I'm not going to give it away but for the right price it can be yours.  You can find other SPs for sale but not one as tricked out as this one.  Why pay for stock when you can have custom?The rod has my name on in Bob's flawless handwriting.  As a favor to me he will replace it with your name free of charge and all you have to do is pay shipping to and from Albuquerque.There's nothing better than looking down while out on a gorgeous trout stream and seeing a work of art in your hand.  The rod is in excellent condition and I can send more pictures (perhaps in better focus) if you need them.
