This flyrod is an absolute cannon and is very easy to cast. A superb bonefish/light saltwater rod, or an all-round bass/steelhead, light salmon rod. I am an accomplished caster and can cast an 8wt bonefish line (skinny weight forward line has little drag in the wind) into a 45 mph wind. The cast used for that is an advanced cast called a wedge cast which combines a rod sweep (final forward cast) with wrist turnover and an extra-fast double hall pull. If you want to learn more about this cast call me at 541-450-0373 and I will talk you through it. I learned it from certified master flycasting instructors Floyed Dean and Mel Krieger. This rod, being an 8wt, is as close as you can come to an all-around rod when fishing for fish larger than trout and up to 20 pounds or more. The butt strength of this Sage graphite taper will let you handle fish larger than 20 pounds, whereas most other 8wt's poop out on such fish. This rod develops very high line speed and can take all the power you can put into it and not bottom out. It works well with either short strokes or long flycasting strokes, as I have tried them all. The rod is used just a little, as you can tell, for some light saltwater work, and is in excellent condition. The only marks that detract from it are some scratched around the butt section ferrule, but are certainly covered up when the rod is put together. There is a small paint mark under the "TCR label" that is not too noticeable and it was there when I bought the rod new and it didn't disuade me from getting the rod in anyway. And I am picky about how I want a rod to look. With this rod you get the original rod tube and sock. And just to re-iterate this is a 4 pc rod, 9feet long, 8weight, very strong but with a great feel extra-fast action flyrod. This rod is a performer, it looks good and feels great in the hand. You will not be disatisfied with it. I have talked with Sage and the TCR is a faster rod than the TCX rods they are coming out with. This rod also has excellent tip tracking which gives it great accuracy at all ranges and keeps the tip from bottoming out on you when casting in harsh windy conditions. A great rod. The only reason I am selling it is I have moved to Oregon from california a few months ago, and am having to move again and desire to cut down my moving expenses.
