Many anglers have found the advantages of interchangeable tip lines (i have sold over 1000). It makes sense for the traveling angler to be equipped with one rod, reel and line and a bunch of tips that can be changed as conditions change. However there is a right way and a wrong way to loop the tips to the body. The correct way is to thread the body loop through the tip loop, then thread the end of the tip through the body loop. This will give you a nice neat footprint (looking like a reef knot) that will slide through the guides easily. If you do it the other way round, namely thread the tip loop through the body loop, then the end of the tip back through its own loop, you will be left with a much bigger footprint that can snag in the guides. Check these photos out to see the difference.   The Double Surgeon's Knot is a quick, easy way to attach the leader/tippet to the other end of the sink tip or directly to your floating line. Instructions for tying the Surgeon's Knot Double the line over to form a loop. Make a single overhand knot in the doubled-over line making sure to not tighten the knot down yet. Then, bring the loop end around and through the overhand knot hole. Holding the loop in one hand, and the tag end and standing line in the other hand, gently pull to snug the knot down. Moistening the knot with water first will help tio lubricate the line. Then the line will slide more easily and form a tighter knot. Trim tag end to 1/8 inch. Tying the Surgeon's Knot is complete.
