And now, on to the bid description!!!
Alcohol stoves are becoming all the rage for the ultralight hiker these days. Pressurized alcohol can stoves are universally regarded as a supreme backpacking stove with unbelievable weight savings over traditional backpacking stoves. Some of the fuels that this amazing little stove can burn are:
Methyl Alcohol
Ethyl alcohol
Denatured alcohol
Gas-line antifreeze (methyl alcohol) "HEET", available at any auto parts store
Gasoline drying additives (methyl alcohol), another auto parts product
90% Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)
Any drinking alcohol above 140 proof
Please note that these burners are designed for alcohol fuels, NOT petroleum based fuels such as gasoline or Coleman fuel!
Pressure jet burners are well known for being more efficient than open flame burners. These burners are hand crafted by me to insure amazing performance! The dished top provides a siphon action to rapidly fill the stove, eliminating the need for a funnel or syringe to fill it! The filler opening on this unit is a durable cadmium plated threaded steel rivet nut. The filler opening is plugged with an 8-32 steel machine screw to provide optimal internal pressure for maximum vaporization and vapor pressure to the fuel jets. The heat from the burning fuel provides the pressure inside the stove to keep it going, so you don't have to pressurize it prior to using! It is the beauty of simplicity itself! The coiled windscreen and burner will fit inside most camp cups, saving space in your pack! Note: these stoves are made from recycled soda cans destined for the landfill, or from the side of a local road I have adopted as an ongoing green earth project. Some may bear a minor surface imperfection that will not affect performance. This sale will not only provide you with a quality product, but help protect the environment from litterbugs as well!
I don't know about you, but I used to use a brass pump up style backpacking stove. Besides being quite heavy, the noise from the burner sounded like a miniature jet engine while it was burning! My stoves provide completely silent operation. No more gas or propane stove noise to ruin the quiet of nature! And no bulky and smelly gas bottles or propane tanks to lug around!
I also include a custom designed finished aluminum windscreen. It has been redesigned for improved airflow and durability. The windscreen has a simple "S" hook system that allows it to be flattened for packing. The total weight of this burner assembly and windscreen is under 1 ounce! The burner will operate approximately 10 minutes on 1 ounce of denatured alcohol. Since it boils two cups of water in 3-4 minutes, you should have plenty of heat to cook a meal and a hot drink! The burner is finished with an aluminized spray coating which will not burn or flake off through hours of hard use! I will put one of my stoves up against any other similar style of stove available either through ebay, or anywhere else on the web!
WINDSCREEN STRENGTH AND DURABILITY
As a curious side note, recently a potential buyer emailed me about how he could not believe that the windscreen of a burner/windscreen combo weighing one ounce could possibly support the weight of a cook pot. My curiosity got the best of me, and the following photo is the result:
Yes, that is a real concrete block. A really wet one. There are also two half empty gallon paint cans, and a 5 pound hand weight stacked on there being supported only by the windscreen, scouts honor. No, once the windscreen is heated and annealed it would not support nearly this much weight, but this shows that the windscreen can handle just about anything a regular backpacker can throw at it, much less any ultralight backpacker who is by nature very conscious of the weight of their meals and equipment.
COLD WEATHER PERFORMANCE
I was recently emailed by a potential customer who was curious about how well my burners performed in cold weather, so I decided to do some real wold testing under winter conditions. I tested the stove at 29 degrees F with no problems whatsoever. The temperature dropped significantly today, so I thought I would do some more in depth testing under brutally cold conditions. The temperature varied between 15-18 degrees F with wind chills between 0-5 degrees F and a light snow falling. The stove was fully exposed to a constant 5-10 mph wind. I figured these would be about the worst conditions possible for a regular hiker to find themselves in. iI found out that the stove/windscreen operated fine, but the fuel (Heet) doesn't want to burn easily under these conditions. In order to get things going, I had to both fill the burner, insert the screw, and fill the bowl half way with additional fuel. I also had to use 2-3 times as much priming fuel as normal. The burner, windscreen, and foil was also placed on a potholder to insulate it from the cold table surface. It would then start up and heat over a cup of water to a simmer in about 20 minutes. I repeated this test three times with the same results each time. This picture of the steaming hot water and a clip of a screen grab from the Weather Underground at the time of the test is the result:
I TRIPLE-DOG DARE any of my competitors (especially those who claim a windscreen is NOT necessary for these stoves to work properly) to test their stoves under similar conditions and report the results to the general public. It is one thing to test the performance of a burner in a nice cozy warm kitchen, and another thing altogether to test them under brutally harsh real world conditions!
WHY YOU SHOULD BUY MY STOVE INSTEAD OF OTHER SELLERS PRODUCTS:
1. Other designs WASTE FUEL!!! Any side burner wastes the fuel you burn waiting for the burner to “bloom”. In my design, you place the windscreen and pot over the burner BEFORE YOU LIGHT IT, so every bit of the heat generated from the lit fuel vapors goes to heating your meal. You aren't wasting any fuel warming the burner up before heating your meal!
2. Other sellers tout the fact that they polish their stoves instead of paint them. Think about it. When you polish a stove, you are REMOVING metal from the cans, making the walls thinner! If you paint the cans, you are ADDING to the thickness of the cans, making the cans stronger. The paint I use is high heat tolerant, and have never flaked or peeled from hard use! In addition, polishing takes time, and manufacturing time adds to the cost of the product. They aren't polishing the cans for free, you know!
3. Other sellers are making side jet burners instead of top jet burners, and claim you don't need a windscreen or stand. They are quite pretty, and make an attractive flame, but I strongly question their effectiveness in actually heating a meal. Without a windscreen, any slight breeze will blow the heat of the burner sideways AWAY FROM the cooking pot! In a moderate wind, these stoves would be near useless! My windscreen eliminates the effect of wind on the heating time, and focuses the heat on the bottom of the pot WHERE IT BELONGS for optimal efficiency! In addition, the pots contact point on these side burners is only 2" in diameter! And the bottom is also rounded and 2" in diameter, which means with a full pot on loose soil or rocks, you will have a major balancing act just to keep from spilling your meal! Since these burners are hard to put out, if it tips near dry leaves or grass, you could have a major problem on your hands! My windscreen/pot stand is 3 1/4" in diameter, which not only makes it substantially more stable than burners CLAIMING no pot stand is needed, but it also contains the flame to the inside of the windscreen which is much safer under fire hazard conditions! NOTE- One seller mentioned above that sells side burners has since began selling his stoves WITH a windscreen after I stated my thoughts in a previous auction (at an additional cost, mind you), proving my concerns were accurate. I still sell mine WITH a windscreen at less than the cost of many burners alone!
4. Other sellers are selling open top burners instead of pressure jet models. An open top is nowhere near as efficient as pressurized burner, which means you are wasting the extra fuel you are having to pack around. Don't take my word for it. Do a little web research on soda can stove comparisons and read for yourself the results. In my humble opinion, you would do nearly as well to pour the fuel into an empty tuna can and light it!
5. Other sellers tout a "secret process" for fitting the cans, making you think you are getting some unique item. Bunk. You stretch fit one half over the other, squeeze down one half over the other, or tape/glue the two halves together (option 3 is definitely the worst construction method). There is no "secret process". The web is full of tutorials on how to do this if you would like to try it yourself. My stove is the result of months of refinement in an already proven design to maximize the efficiency, burn time, and heat focus of the burner to the cook pot. I am only offering my product to save you the trials and experimentation of finding a design that works, and works well, and the expense of the tools needed to craft these amazing little stoves! You could purchase several of these burners for the cost of the sheet metal punch I use to craft the square holes in the windscreen alone! In addition, my stoves contain no tape or glues that will melt or burn off with time. The halves are press fit into position and pressure tested for leaks before the burner jets are created, giving you the most efficient can stove possible!
6. Other sellers add expensive extras at an UNBELIEVABLE markup. One seller has added a $5 camp cup (similar versions available at any Walmart), and a $1 fuel bottle, and is OPENING the bid at $17.95! PUHLEEZE! I will not insult your intelligence with such tactics!
7. Other sellers simply screw the plug into the can itself. We all know how thin the metal is on the can itself! I use a cadmium plated threaded steel rivet nut and a steel machine screw to seal the filler opening in my stoves. I have even seen one stove for sale with a HOLE left in the top, and no plug at all! I ask you, how can you get pressure for the burner to work correctly without sealing the filler opening?!
8. Other sellers either do not include the needed windscreen (which IS required to use these stoves properly), or include only a piece of sheet stock (or even worse, charge $5 for a paper pattern!) and expect you to finish it yourself! My windscreen is completely finished and ready for use! It also doubles as a pot stand, thereby saving you even more weight in your pack.
9. Other sellers rip you off on shipping fees. I have seen sellers charging $3 and up to ship these stoves. They only weigh one ounce! That is $.41 postage! Even with another 2 ounces of packaging, that is an additional $.46, for a total of $.87! You are paying a 361% markup on shipping charges!
SPECIAL BONUS OFFER!!!!
As stated above, I prefer a painted finish, but the great painted/polished debate rages on!
If you must have a polished finish I will buff your burner to a mirror smooth finish instead of painting for only $3 more!!! Simply add the cost at the time of purchase if you would prefer a polished finish, and I will gladly do that for you!
I also offer a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply return the item in good condition, and I will cheerfully refund your purchase price, no questions asked! You cannot get a better return policy than that anywhere on ebay!

"Hi, I just to want to let you know that the stoves I bought from you worked flawlessly during mi trip at Torres del Paine National Park(Patagonia, Chile). With my girlfriend, we hiked along the Torre's Big Circuit using a butane stove as our primary cooking device. During the third day, we had a problem with the hose connecting the canister with the burners, rendering the stove useless. Luckily, I was carrying one of your stoves as backup. We used it for the rest of the trip without a single problem. It performed so well, I haven't even bothered to repair the butane stove! Attached you will find some pics I took in the park, including one where the stove (only the windshield, actually) can be seen with the Grey glacier and campsite as background. Thanks for a great product!! Guillermo"

YOUR PURCHASE ALSO HELPS TO SUPPORT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS!!!
I just keep finding many great ways to use the income generated from these burner sales to help fund charitable institutions. A portion of each burner sale goes to support the Galilean Children's Home in Liberty Kentucky. Founded in 1984, Galilean Children's Home is a home for children that are either castaways or come from homes whose parents are unable to care for them. A few are placed by loving families who needed assistance in caring for their severely disabled children. They provide food, shelter, clothing, medical care recovery and therapy care, Christian education and recreation for infants and children. Over 800 children, including more than 400 newborns, have been rescued from their fate by the compassionate and caring hearts of Sandy and Jerry Tucker, who founded the Home. And in memory of my beloved Husky Lilly, an equal portion of each burner sale is also donated to the the L.I.F.E. House for animals, a no-kill rescue shelter for homeless animals located in Frankfort Kentucky. Both of the pictures below are click able links to take you directly to the charities websites mentioned above. If you can donate anything at all to help these outstanding charity organizations, I know it will be greatly appreciated!
In addition to the donations mentioned above, your purchase supports my free sea turtle light shield program to reduce the deaths of endangered species hatchling sea turtles due to confusion from light pollution in nesting areas.
